Biography

Anna Sokolova was born in 1976. Her family can be described as a true art dynasty. Her grandfather N.A. Sokolov was member of the famous Kukruniksy art collective, while her father V.N. Sokolov is the Academician of the Russian Art Academy. Deep cultural traditions coupled with excellent education in Russia’s best art schools formed Anna as an artist.

 

In 1993, Anna Graduated from the Moscow Academic Art Lyceum. In 2000, she graduated from the Monumental Painting Department of the Surikov Academic Art Institute. She is a member of the International Association of Graphic Artists (IFA), the Union of Russian Artists, UNESCO International Artists Association, and the French Artists Union.

 

In addition to artistic work, Anna for many years worked as a designer and store windows decorator for the world famous brands such as HERMES, DIOR, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO, etc. Her design work participated in international competitions and was published in the leading magazines such as DESIGN ILLUSTRATED. Anna also created frescos and mosaics in private homes.

 

Currently Anna continues her artistic work. She participated in multiple exhibits. Anna’s paintings are held in the Vilnius state museum and multiple private collections.

The mission of an artist is to excite the soul.

— Anna, why did you choose painting?

— I could never imagine picking another occupation. Although I am interested in all forms of art, many of them remain a mystery for me. For instance, I always found sculpture extremely fascinating. How can one create a work of art from a common shapeless stone. How can a sculptor see and show others his vision? The same can be said about music and literature. How can a musician “hear” the future musical piece? How can writers and poets so brilliantly “interweave” the word into beautiful and meaningful passage? Although I always admired these forms if creativity, I realized that only paining completely matched me spirit. Painting is passionate! A good ... 

Exhibition at the "I-Gallery. Intelligence" in Paris

In the fall of 2019 Anna organised and exhibition in Paris in the I-Gallery. Intelligence, located in 1 Quai Voltaire. Anna displayed her works from her "Under Water" and "Living in Morocco" series. The  exhibit lasted for a month and was a great success.

Exhibition at the French Senate Exhibition Hall "Orangerie du Senat"

In May of 2017 Anna Sokolova organised and participated in an exhibit of 10 independent Russian artists that took place in Orangerie Du Senat, a 700 m exhibition space that belongs to the French Senate. Anna's inept won the competition for this spaie. 1 000 people visited this exhibition that lasted for 10 days. The works of the Russian artists, including Anna's won favourable reviews from the press, galleries and exhibition visitors.

Anna's Virtual Exhibit

Once again the Nave of the Grand Palais is to host Art Capital. For 5 days, you can discover the work of 2,000 artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, architects, engravers and so on…) at this great art fair. Open to the general public since 2006, the fair brings together artists from all different backgrounds and has become a reference point for the promotion of the current art scene. Art en Capitale strengthens links between the general public, the artists and the galleries.
